Kahawa Wendani by-election: Brother to late MCA Omondi clinches Jubilee ticket

Kevin Ochieng, the brother of the late Kahawa Wendani MCA Cyrus Omondi has won the Jubilee Party nomination.

Ochieng emerged winner in a crowded field of seven men and four women who were competing for the ticket of the dominant party in Ruiru constituency and Kiambu County.

Earlier indications were that Ochieng could have been the preferred handshake pact candidate but could have lost ground due to "talking too much."

The seat fell vacant when his late brother died during a visit to India.

In Murang'a County, former Gaturi MCA Rosemary Wakuthie won the Jubilee Party nomination with 1720 votes.

Esther Mwahaki, a member of Kiharu CDF polled 1260 votes and Joshua Githinji-1041 votes.

The two winners are expected to be the front runners in the by-elections to fill the two wards as Jubilee is the dominant party in the areas.
