Manchester United have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

Their talks over a move for the England international had stalled in recent weeks with a host of issues unresolved.

As first stated by The Telegraph, the Red Devils have now made a breakthrough over their stalemate regarding agents’ fees and Sancho’s personal terms.

United have been frustrated by the use of intermediaries such as Marco Lichsteiner conveying both Sancho and Dortmund’s demands in talks.

They are now said to have reached an agreement over fees and the structure of a deal for Sancho.

However, the major lingering issue remains a roadblock to the deal.

Borussia Dortmund are still holding out for their full valuation of Sancho and are unwilling to sell for less than £100million.

United, on the other hand, are looking to pay no more than £80million and structure a deal with bonuses and add-ons rather than paying the full fee up front.

That will still remain a problem even if an agreement on Sancho’s side is reached as the two clubs need to agree terms.

United have until the October 5 transfer deadline to get a deal done and a renewed sense of urgency could see them bite the bullet and shell out the full fee as they have done for Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes in recent windows.

Manchester Evening News have claimed United could look to a stop-gap solution after being prepared to wait another year to avoid paying over the odds for Sancho.

Dortmund chief Michael Zorc recently announced: "We are planning with Sancho. He'll play for us next season.

"The decision is final. I think that answers all of the questions."
