I have lost my dad and job in one month, journalist says

Journalist Sharon Baranga who was laid off by Nation Media Group on Friday revealed that it has been a tough month for her having lost her dad recently.

Through a tweet, Baranga thanked all those who have been encouraging her during this difficult period, saying she is ‘hanging in there’ despite the challenges.

“I have lost my dad & job in one month...it is well. I am hanging in there. Thank you all for the calls, msgs & prayers,” she tweeted.

Online, netizens were full of encouragement, asking her to trust the Almighty to turn things around.

Earlier, NTV news anchor Ken Mijungu also told his fans that he had been fired by NMG after seven years.

Through a tweet, Mijungu said it was summed up in a two-page letter of termination but thanked the media house for the opportunity to work with them.

“The axe fell @NTVnewsroom and I was on its way. 7 years in those corridors summed up in a two page letter of termination.

“We live to fight another day. Thanks to God, He remains the greatest, thank you @ntvkenya for the opportunity and thank you for always staying tuned,” he wrote.

Ever since the first case of coronavirus was reported in the country, various measures have been taken to contain the spread and the economy has suffered.

Jobs have been lost as most companies have either shut down or scaled-down operations.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the country on Monday and many Kenyans hope he will open up the economy.
