Tour van driver collapses and dies in the line of duty

A tour driver collapsed and died while on duty at the Nairobi National Park on Sunday morning.

In a statement, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said that the driver collapsed while on the steering wheel, forcing the vehicle to veer off the road.

KWS also said it acted speedily to rush the driver to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“The Nairobi National Park management swiftly acted to secure the safety of the occupants and immediately called for the assistance of a medical doctor,” the statement read.

The matter was reported to Langata Police Station, where investigations into the incident have since commenced.

At the time of going to press, KWS said it was trying to reach the family of the deceased.

The institution however assured that the park remains open to visitors and that “all precautionary measures are in place for their safety and health at all times.”

Those wishing to visit have first to undergo mandatory screening for the coronavirus.
