Kiambu County receives 100 beds in the fight against Covid-19

Kiambu county has received 100 beds valued at Sh10 million from a food processing firm to help manage coronavirus patients.

Governor James Nyoro lauded the donation from Kevian Kenya and called on other corporates to help.

Hospitals across the country have been struggling to equip their wards, isolation and quarantine centres in the fight against Covid-19.

Out of the 100 beds, 50 will be installed at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Thika while the rest will be set up at Tigoni Hospital, a public health facility dedicated to handle the virus.

Joseph Karanja, the principal of Thika KMTC, was confident that his college was able to handle 150 coronavirus isolation cases.

Kimani Rugendo from Kevian Kenya said the beds were made by Kevian Kenya subsidiary firm, Ramani Recyclers, using recycled waste Tetra Pack papers.

“We want to join hands with the government in the fight against the deadly virus and ensure normalcy returns,” said Mr Rugendo.
