Man hurriedly buried in Limuru after showing COVID-19 signs tests negative

A 25-year-old man who was hurriedly buried in Nyambari, Limuru, after exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, tested negative from the virus.

David Kamau was taken ill after he complained of breathing difficulties and was rushed to a private hospital and later transferred to Kiambu level 5 where he died.

According to Kamau’s family, their son was asthmatic, and he was being treated for a tuberculosis infection at the time.

Speaking to Citizen, the caretaker said the Kamau was selling shoes and clothes before leaving the job to become a DJ. The caretaker says Kamau would stay out late at night when it was freezing.

Kamau’s family states that they were informed in the manner that their son would be buried after government health official’s linked his death to COVID-19 to which he tested negative.

However, the family now wants answers as to why their son was buried before the results of the test came out.

Kamau’s case comes days after a man in Siaya who died of COVID-19, was buried in bizarre that left the villagers shocked.

The family condemned the manner in which the 59-year-old James Onyango was buried and even asked the government to exhume his body for a decent burial.

“We didn’t have any intention of burying our brother at night. We wanted to give him a decent burial during the day.

“Luo culture does not allow someone to be buried at night like a dog the way they did to my brother. This thing will affect the kids,” said Zack Oyango, brother to the deceased.
