Deputy Governor Joash Maangi now threatens to name those behind his woes
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has dismissed his summons by police over claims that he assaulted one his workers as political, adding that he will not be intimidated.
Maangi has been summoned to record a statement on Tuesday March 17, on the assault allegations.
While speaking to the media on Monday evening, Maangi said the summons requiring him to appear before police were issued by the Kisii County Police Commander Jazebel Munene.
The alleged assault is said to have taken place during the 2019 Christmas festivals at Maaangi's Riagongera rural home in Bomachoge Chache Sub County Kisii.
Maangi has however appointed accusing fingers on his political detractors saying they are behind the malicious allegations.
"I am prepared to face my political competitors. No form of intimidation nor interference will delay my political quest,” he said.
"I will honour the summons and will appear before police tomorrow at 10am. Am a law abiding citizen and couldn't want to undermine the work of our police force," he added.
Maangi said he will later after recording the statement on Tuesday morning name the individuals behind a scheme to poison him.
Maangi had reported the matter to the Kisii County Criminal Investigation Commander.
