Four killed as gunmen attack bus in Mandera- Video

Four passengers have been killed and several others injured after suspected Al-Shabaab militants attacked a bus at Banisa, Mandera County.

The Moyale Raha bus was heading to Nairobi from Mandera.

The bus is said to have left Mandera in the morning and was attacked at around 10am.

According to witnesses, the gunmen tried to stop the bus but the driver sped off prompting the gunmen to shoot at the tyres.

Some passengers escaped from the scene.

The militants have in the past months been roaming in the area leaving a trail of destruction.

In December, the militants raided a construction site in Mandera near the Somalia border and burnt down four construction equipment.

The gang also targeted and attacked non-locals who were on a bus in Wajir that was headed for Mandera.

The victims were passengers of a bus and were all non-locals. They were flushed out of the bus and shot at close range.

Another similar bus attack incident happened in January at Nyongoro near Witu town in Lamu County where three people were killed in the attack.

Nyongoro falls within a volatile area of Lamu where an insurgency by Al Shabaab militants has spread to since mid-2017.

The Mombasa-Raha operated bus was travelling from Mombasa to Lamu town.
