President Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenyans in paying their last respects to the late President Daniel arap Moi at Parliament Buildings.

Uhuru and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta arrived at Parliament Buildings at 10:15 am and were the first to view the body.

The President had earlier paid tribute to Mzee Moi as a visionary leader who always preached peace and unity, not only in Kenya but in the entire continent.

President Uhuru was accompanied by the Cabinet and other senior government officials who also viewed the body of Mzee Moi immediately after the President and the First Lady.

Mzee Moi’s body was moved from Lee Funeral Home and taken to Parliament where it will lie in state for three days ahead of a state funeral

Deputy President William Ruto led the Cabinet in viewing the remains after Uhuru, before members of the public were allowed in.

Members of the public have until Monday to pay their last respect to Kenya’s second and longest serving President.

Mzee Moi served as President for 24 years before quitting in 2002.

Moi will be buried at his Kabarak home on Wednesday.
