Body of man who plunged into the ocean retrieved

The Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) on Saturday morning confirmed that the body of a man who plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Channel had been retrieved.

The deceased has been identified as John Mutinda and he was driving a saloon car (Reg. KAX 475B).

According to KFS Managing Director Bakari Gowa, the body has been taken to Jocham Hospital Mortuary.

Benedict Kieti, a family member, said they had received news about the accident in the morning but were yet to see the body.

He added that the deceased left the house in a hurry saying he had to attend to something.

The family said they would give a comprehensive statement once they view the body.

It is not yet clear whether the car had other occupants but it has already been located and is around six meters deep.

The recovery exercise is being done by a combined team of Kenya Coast Guard Service, The Kenya Navy, and the Kenya Ferry Services rescue team.
