Hilarious reactions after HELB threatens to publish defaulters names and faces on newspapers

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) on Sunday, November 17, 2019, released a statement threatening to publish names and photos of 85,000 loan defaulters.

The threat was, however, not received with the seriousness that was intended by the targets who took to social media to mock the move.

Despite the usual blame aimed toward the government for unemployment which forced the loaned to default, majority did not seem to care.

They took the opportunity to advertise their humorous side to the public saying that by being published, they would become famous.

Some of the comments include:

Mwaka Wangu - The HELB should publish our names and photos in billboards, newspapers, Twitter and all social media at large for the whole world to see and the well-wishers will cheap in.

Mukami Carol - They should give us an opportunity to upload our recent full photos.

Gideon Bansel - We can even send them our nakedness. We are ready. At least comrades will have an opportunity to feature on Nation paper.

Oteng'o Senior Otieno - Let them do quickly please, one month is too much for us, we want to be recognised by the whole of Kenya as debtors, please.

Silas Mwirigi - Those who wish to appear in the dailies can upload their passport size photos (taken not more than 2yrs ago, maximum 5Mb), with white a background through their portal. Deadline: 30th Nov 00:00Hrs.

The loan body gave 30 days to the defaulters who date back to 1975 to clear or face the consequences.
