KCSE 2019: How to pass exams

National exams are here with us with KCPE set to start on October 29, 2019, and KCSE to officially start on November 4, 2019.

Most of the time, candidates panic and the last-minute rush leads to poor performance.

Below we will look at a number of tips to help you pass your exams:

Do not panic

One of the easiest ways to pass an exam is to relax. With a relaxed mind you can recall what you have learnt clearly and explain your points well.

Avoid distractions

In this age of technology, distractions are all over. This is not the time to start taking videos on Instagram and trying to keep up with trends on social media. Focus!

Prioritise your weak points

The truth is, not everyone can be good at all the subjects. If there is a subject you find difficult to grasp, allocate it more time. Polish all your weak points. They will come in handy during the test.

Have study breaks

As much as you want to pass, take some time off to relax. Reading continuously without a break might bring more harm than good

Follow instructions

Candidates are often overconfident when they know an answer and they tend to answer what was not even asked.

If the question asks you to list, state, deduce, explain etc. do just that.

Do not spend too much time on questions you do not know

Always start with what you know and give them your best shot. That way you will have more time to comprehend the more difficult questions.

Use memory aids

This varies from person to person but if it is impossible for you to recall certain things, consider coming up with acronyms. They will save you a lot of time.

Look at past papers

At times exams adopt similar approaches and familiarizing yourself with the structure will ensure you are adequately prepared before the material day

Do not put too much pressure on yourself

Yes, it is a national exam but it should be a matter of life and death. Do your best and let God do the rest. There is more to life than just passing exams.

Success!
