Rogue husband storms classroom, stabs teacher in Bondo

A 25-year-old primary school teacher is nursing knife wounds in Bondo Sub-County after she allegedly was stabbed by her husband in the school compound last evening.

Everline Akinyi Otieno, who teaches at St. Paul’s Gulf Academy in Bondo town is said to have been attacked by her 32-year- old husband Kevin Otieno Ochieng while in class with her pupils.

According to the Akinyi, her husband stormed the classroom where she was with the pupils and asked for her phone which she gave out, and then he went out and came started beating her.

She narrated that Ochieng’ pounced on her with kicks and blows in front of the pupils amid cries for help and then drew a knife with which he stabbed her on the neck and on the left cheek.

The teacher was forced to seek refuge at her paternal home in Alego-Usonga sub-county after she was treated at Bondo Sub-County Hospital and discharged She opened up and told The Standard that they have had domestic wrangles for a long time.

The mother of two revealed that her husband had on several occasions threatened to kill her. The attack in school compound only confirmed her worst fears.

Director of St. Paul’s Gulf Academy Mr Indere Ambajo who was at the school during the incident confirmed the attack.

"The husband was chased and caught by irate members of the public who wanted to lynch him," said Mr Ambajo.

He stated that the members of the public descended on the rogue husband with thorough beatings before taking him to Bondo Police Station, only for him to be released under unclear circumstances.
