President Uhuru tours State projects in Kwale

President Uhuru Kenyatta is taken on a tour of Kibuyuni Sea Farm weed in Kwale County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday made an impromptu tour of development projects in Kwale County.

The president popped up at a fund raising event at Mwangoni Primary School in Kinango Sub-county and directed that the Ministry of Education give Sh10 million for construction of a boys’ dormitory.

Uhuru, who was accompanied by Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe and Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata pledged Sh1 million personal donation.

“I direct the Ministry of Education to give Sh10 million through the infrastructure fund for this project,” he said.

The function also marked the homecoming party for Gender Principal Secretary Safina Kwekwe, a former pupil of the school.

Uhuru said he was on a tour of the Sh12 billion Samburu-Kinango Road. “As I inspected the road, I saw this crowd and decided to check. This gives me an opportunity to thank the people for giving me the PS who has made great contribution to public service,” he said.

He said he had earlier toured Shimoni Road which is under construction, the proposed Shimoni port, Kibuyuni Women Seaweed Project and Vanga Road.

Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari asked the president to ensure water from the proposed Mwache Dam reached Kinango. He also pleaded with him to pardon teachers who have been sacked by the Teachers Service commission. “We are pleading with you to forgive teachers who have been sacked over the CBC (Competency Based  Curriculum),”  he said.
