Nyahururu Water and Sanitation Company Managing Director Bernard Mwaura has been sent on a 30-day compulsory leave.

After a day-long closed-door meeting held in Nyahururu, the company's board decided to send the manager on compulsory leave to pave way for investigations on claims of abuse of office and gross misconduct.

The board is investigating Mwaura's role in the outcome of the vote on the County Water Bill.

Ward reps shot down the bill that was meant to provide legal and institutional framework for the management of water resources and sewerage services.

Mwaura has denied the claims saying he was a victim of county politics. He insisted that there were no issues raised on mismanagement and financial misappropriation of funds from the company.

"I will respect the decision of the board so as to keep the company running. However, I want to make it clear that this is pure witch-hunt as I have run the company perfectly," he said.
