Inquest into the death of officers family delayed for the third time in a row

The inquest into the death of a wife and daughter of a prison warder failed to take off yesterday after the court was told that a lawyer of one of the suspects was holed up in the Court of Appeal in Kisumu.

The matter that aims at unraveling the mysterious fire that razed down Kakamega Prison Inspector Francis Jumba’s house while the family was sleeping killing two was adjourned for the third time in a row.

Petronilla Jumba, 44, and her daughter Nicole Osinde, 6, died after fire broke out on the night of January 26, 2015 at their Ikonyero home, Lurambi sub-county. The inquest has seen three senior prison warders who served at Kakamega Main Prison being treated as suspects.

Retired Sergeant Daniel Kangu, prison warders Hillary Omit and Thomas Mukholi Wanjala were adversely for the attack.

Kakamega Senior Resident Magistrate Erick Malesi adjourned the matter till October 7.
