A Second Year student at Shamberere Technical Training College (STTI) has denied stabbing his colleague to death in a suspected love triangle.

Dennis Mango was charged with killing Dennis Muhindi Amugasha on June 17, at the college in Malava sub-county.

According to court documents, the accused stabbed Muhindi in the chest in a fight over a girlfriend. The charge sheet indicates that on the morning of the incident, Mango had sent the girl, also a student at STTI, a phone message, which Muhindi saw.

Irked by the message, Muhindi, 24, is said to have armed himself with a kitchen knife and tricked the suspect to a meeting. A fight ensued, and Muhindi was stabbed.

The Fourth Year student was confirmed dead on arrival at Malava sub-county hospital.

Yesterday, Mango, through his lawyer Charles Malalah, sought to be released on a reasonable bond to enable him sit his end of year examinations next week.

High Court Judge Jesse Njagi ordered him held at Kakamega Main Prison awaiting pre-bail report on July 22.
