An MP has proposed that the gubernatorial seat be rotated among the county's four constituencies.

Manyatta MP John Muchiri said Runyenjes Constituency, the birth place of Governor Martin Wambora, who is serving his final term, should now give a chance to either Mbeere North, Mbeere South or Manyatta constituencies.

Mr Muchiri said since the other regions supported Mr Wambora for two terms, it would be unfair if his successor came from Runyenjes.

The second term legislator, who has declared interest to succeed Wambora, spoke at St Michael Primary School when the alumni donated lockers and delivered motivational talks to pupils.

Former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti and nominated MP Cecily Mbarire have also declared interest for governorship in 2022.

Separately, management consultant Kithinji Kiragu dismissed calls to have the governor's position rotated, arguing that the best leader should take over irrespective of his or her origin.

“The best leader is the one with a vision and a drive to help his people. You may have a governor from your village who will only help his kin but will not create jobs or empower farmers,” said Mr Kiragu, who contested the Embu governorship in 2013 and 2017.
