A group of Jubilee MPs supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta has castigated their rivals for allegedly playing dirty in succession politics.

The team — 'Kieleweke' — asked their rivals "Tanga Tanga", which is campaigning for Deputy President William Ruto, to reconsider its stand on pledges made to spearhead development programmes before 2022.

Led by MPs Maina Kamanda (pictured, nominated) and Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town), the MPs said handshake politics — initiated by the President and Opposition leader Raila Odinga — had greatly helped in reducing political conflicts.

The 10 MPs were at Kaharo ACK Church in Maragua on Sunday during a thanksgiving after former MP Elias Mbau was appointed to chair Nepad/APRM board.

Mr Kamanda said Mt Kenya region would follow directions from Uhuru on whom to support in 2022 elections.

”Some leaders in the region are yet to get the information that partnership between Kenyatta and his deputy withered long time. They are reading from different scripts and in 2022 Kenyatta will guide the region politically,” said Kamanda.

Wambugu said those against the handshake were playing divisive politics and should not be entertained.

Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny said some leaders pretend to support the President not knowing that he had ordered they be investigated.

Baringo Woman Representative Gladwell Cheruiyot asked Mt Kenya region leaders to rally behind Uhuru.
