The Kirinyaga county government has submitted the name of its nominee for the vacant position of Health executive.

County Assembly Majority Leader Kamau Murango has confirmed the name has been forwarded to the assembly for vetting.

“I can confirm to you that we now have a name of the nominee and the next thing on the agenda is to have the person nominated appear before the relevant committee for vetting after which it will be tabled at the floor of the assembly for adoption or rejection,” said Mr Murango.

The official was responding to questions by the media over why the county government was operating without being fully constituted as per the constitutional requirements.

He said the dire situation in various county health facilities after about 350 casual employees were sacked two weeks ago, would not have occurred had there been an executive for the docket.

Murango said the issue of the sacked casuals was being addressed by the assembly and hinted their services could be reinstated soon in order to restore cleanliness in the health facilities.
