Man behind West Pokot border cattle raids nabbed

Police have arrested a man believed to be the ring leader of cattle rustlers along the border of West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.

The 41-year-old man was nabbed on Thursday at Kamelei shopping centre where he and his accomplices allegedly torched the local assistant chief’s house.

The bandits also set ablaze houses belonging to a security peace committee members before attacking Kamelei Anti-Stock Theft Unit police camp where they were repulsed by security officers in a shootout.
