The appointment of board members for Kangundo-Tala Municipality has opened yet another opportunity for growth and expansion of the county, Governor Alfred Mutua has said.

The eight board members, who were vetted and approved by the county assembly, are now readying to take over the day-to-day management of the urban centre.

They include John Kilinge (chairperson), Rebecca Mutua (vice chairperson), Lawrence Musee and Cecelia Mulinge.

The others are Esther Mwikali, Hellen Jonathan, Joshua Kitonga and Joel Wambua. Dr Mutua who announced their appointment yesterday said their endorsement by the county assembly was a key milestone in catapulting Machakos into a regional economic powerhouse.

“The operationalisation of Kangundo-Tala Municipality is a significant milestone in propelling Machakos into becoming a regional business hub where improved infrastructure and service delivery is expected to attract investment and create more jobs for our people,” said Mutua.

The board will begin work after its formal gazettement.
