A man has been arraigned in court charged with selling alcohol to 10 teenagers.

Andrew Mwangi is said to have sold alcohol without a licence to teenagers in Form II, III and IV from various secondary schools on April 11 in Pangani estate, Nakuru.

He denied the charges before the Principal Magistrate Bernard Mararo.

“The accused person may be released on a bond of Sh100, 000 or a surety of similar amount,” ruled the court.

Mwangi is facing other charges of being in possession of two rolls of cannabis.

The accused is said to have been in possession of a television, woofer, five laptops and DStv decoder suspected to be stolen.

“On 11 April at around 6pm at Pangani he sold White house spirit, Hunter and Legend to teenagers with knowledge that they were minors below 18 years,” read the charge sheet.

The court ordered the prosecution to supply the accused with necessary documents and witness statements.

The case will be heard on April 18.

The teenagers who were said to have bought the alcohol appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Daisy Mosse and were committed to the Nakuru Juvenile Remand Home, as the court awaits a report from the Children's office.

The children were not charged, however the children's office in Nakuru requested the court for time to prepare a full report.

“On April 11, at around 6pm, the minors were found partying and taking alcohol within Kanu Street at the home of one Andrew Mwangi,” read the file.

The case will be mentioned on April 23.
