Tall, dark and charismatic,he had the makings of a great news anchor. He was at the peak of his career. He had gambled his way in to the media industry after leaving a six-figure salary job in the hospitality sector. The pay was a meagre Sh 7,200 but soon enough his gamble paid off and he quickly rose through the ranks and he was recognised by CNN as Africa’s best journalist in 2012.
A year later, he received the Global Leaders Award, a testament to how good he was. As expected, more good tidings came his way. He was hired by K24 TV, from Citizen TV, and given a better paying position. But it did not take long before his world came crashing down when he was retrenched.
