Man kills wife after finding her with lover in bed

A man from Kaplelach village in Sigowet Constituency hacked his wife to death.

Julius Rotich allegedly found her with another man.

Soin chief Paul Cheruiyot confirmed the midnight incident, saying after Rotich allegedly committed the crime he called him to confess.

During the midnight conversation, Cheruiyot said the suspect explained that he had allegedly arrived at his house to find his wife Rachel with another man.

"The suspect said a fight broke out when his wife attempting to run away," he said.

Rotich caught her outside and hacked her while her alleged lover escaped.

He surrendered when police arrived at the scene.

Cheruiyot said, "The murder weapon, a machete, was recovered."

Cheruiyot added that the couple had a history of domestic wrangles.

"Their marriage has been on the rocks for a long time. Alcoholism had been part of their problems."

The Soin chief advised residents to consider seeking counselling whenever they have marital issues.

"Bottled up anger can lead someone to do something they will regret," Cheruiyot said.

Police took the suspect, a peasant farmer, to Kipsitet Police Station.

Rachel's mutilated body was taken to Kericho County Hospital mortuary.
