Governor Sonko's health nominee turns down job offer, four others vetted

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s nominee for the health docket has turned down her nomination.

Stella Bosire, who was nominated by the Governor early this year to take up the position of the Health county executive, failed to appear before the county vetting and appointment committee on Monday.

During the vetting of other nominees, it was revealed that Dr Bosire did not submit her credentials.

Declined nomination

Committee chairman, acting Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Chege Mwaura, said: “She never presented her papers to the committee to be vetted so we assumed she was not interested”.

Sought for comment, Bosire confirmed that she had declined the nomination, albeit without giving a clear reason.

“Unfortunately, it has come to that. I will serve Kenyans in other capacity,” she stated.

Sonko said he would pick a different individual.

“It is normal for such things to happen, but I can assure Nairobians that I will nominate someone else,” he said.

Four CEC nominees; Lucia Mulwa (Education), Pauline Kahiga-Waititu (Public Service and Devolution), Winfred Gathangu (Finance) and Sanjeev Kaur Sonia Birdi (Environment) were, however, vetted.
