Couple accused of forging KANU CEO's vehicle log book take charges afresh

Perminus Kiage Gwaro and his wife Dorcas Ayoo Oloo.

A couple accused of forging the log book of a car owned by a local politician answered to the charges yesterday after the State consolidated their case.

Businessman Perminus Gwaro and his wife Dorcas Oloo denied charges of altering a document with the intent to defraud.

The two accused of forging a logbook of a vehicle belonging to Kenya African National Union Chief Executive Officer Joseph Towett appeared before Milimani court magistrate Hellen Onkwany.

They were also accused of obtaining credit by false pretense, an allegation they also denied.

The offences, according to the State, happened on November 24, 2017.

Gwaro is the Chief Executive Officer of Landlord Holdings Ltd while Oloo is an insurance agent.

It is claimed the two used the contested logbook to secure a loan from a micro-finance company.

The charge sheet reads that they got a Sh400,000 loan from Milhan Access Capital Limited.

“On November 24, 2017 at Milhan Access Capital Limited at Westlands, within Nairobi County, with intent to defraud, knowingly and fraudulently obtained credit by false pretense using a forged logbook for motor vehicle registration KBU 276K of Sh400,000,” the charge reads.

The two answered "not true" in turns.

Oloo was the first to be charged last year, while her husband would later join the case as an accused person.

The State sought to have the two cases consolidated.

The case will be heard on May 15. The State is expected to call two witnesses.
