Big reveal: Maurizio Sarri to be sacked if he loses final against Man City

Maurizio Sarri has been left on the brink of the sack - and could go if Chelsea lose the Carabao Cup final.

There is growing concern among the Chelsea hierarchy after a string of bad results and also Sarri’s relationship with the fans, especially in the wake of him admitting he does not care what they think after the FA Cup defeat at Manchester United.

Sarri now appears to be a dead man walking at Stamford Bridge and he is running out of time as they face Malmo in the Europa League on Thursday night, Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday and then Tottenham next Wednesday.

Under-pressure Sarri has been left in no doubt that his future is on the line and if he suffers more bad results then they are ready to make a change and are already thinking about potential replacements.

Chelsea fans chanted for Frank Lampard on Monday night but the Derby boss is in his first season and may be unsure about the task ahead.

Juventus boss Max Allegri could be a big-name alternative but Zinedine Zidane’s chances are not helped by his poor English.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia - a close ally of Roman Abramovich - is also under the spotlight as she championed the Sarri appointment and recent transfer windows and signings have left the squad in poor shape.

Meanwhile, Mirror Sport revealed earlier on Tuesday that Sarri is struggling to convince Chelsea's serial silverware winners that his way is the right way.

Sarri's failure to make the most of the huge trophy-winning experience in his squad is proving his undoing and could end up being fatal.

While many of Chelsea's players know what it takes to achieve glory for club and country, Sarri is still waiting for his first managerial honour.
