Chief nursing injuries after an attack by a police sergeant

A policeman is under investigations after he allegedly assaulted a chief who busted him taking alcohol after legal drinking hours.

The officer attached to Karinga Administration Police camp in Kigumo assaulted Kinyona chief Michael Njehia.

The chief, who was on patrol, found the officer and nine others, in a bar after midnight on Friday.

The chief demanded to know why they were drinking at midnight contrary to the law.

Other revellers escaped through the backdoor and left the chief at the mercy of the officer who beat him up and left the administrator bleeding.

County Commissioner Mohammed Barre said the matter was being investigated after the chief reported the AP at Kigumo Police Station.

He said necessary action would be taken after investigations, including charging the officer in court.

“The officer is out on a Sh5,000 police bond awaiting completion of investigations,” said Barre.

Meanwhile, Barre warned bar operators that action would be taken against those flouting the law.

Last year, some local chiefs accused local police officers of being compromised by bar operators.
