The Embu County Assembly has recommended the sacking of Finance Chief Officer Ruth Ndirangu and her Youth Empowerment and Sports counterpart Samuel Wachira.

The two were accused of abuse of office, gross misconduct, incompetence, corruption and contravention of the law. MCAs, however, exonerated Health executive Grace Wanja and Jerevasio Mbogo of Education who had also been censured over accusations of mal-administration in their dockets.

The Ad Hoc Committee investigating Ms Ndirangu’s conduct tabled a report recommending her removal from office within 24 hours.

This was after the committee’s 45-day investigation confirmed the allegations levelled against her. Further investigations that would lead to her prosecution for economic crimes commenced.

The report tabled by committee chair, Evurore MCA Duncan Mbui, also questioned Ndirangu’s academic qualifications.

Witness evidence on oath indicated that the authenticity of her academic papers could not be ascertained.

Ndirangu is also said to have been paying a company she has interest in for supplying oxygen to the Embu Level Five Hospital.

The Ad Hoc Committee chaired by Ruguru Ngandori recommended that the Auditor General conducts an audit on the Youth Empowerment and Sports Department.
