Mbadi: Experts make bad governors, reject them

A politician has claimed that having technocrats as governors is to blame for the poor development record in Nyanza.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Chairman John Mbadi said technocrats with little political background had failed to deliver.

Mr Mbadi urged residents to elect only politicians.

He said politicians in Luo Nyanza who had stood with Raila Odinga over the years understood the spirit of devolution better than technocrats.

“When the polls come, let us change the pattern. Let us look at the people who have fought for devolution. We went for managers but they have disappointed us ... they have the skills to loot more than politicians,” said Mbadi.

The party chairman was speaking in Rarieda, Siaya County, on Saturday when he attended the burial of Kefa Oduor, brother of Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

Kisumu, Siaya, Migori and Homa Bay counties elected technocrats as governors in 2013.
