An aide to a Cabinet Secretary was yesterday charged with defiling a 16-year-old girl.

Reuben Kiborek allegedly defiled the minor at Sarova Woodlands Hotel in Nakuru.

He faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child.

“On December 23, 2018, at Sarova Woodlands Hotel in Nakuru East within Nakuru County, you intentionally and unlawfully defiled a child aged 16 years,” read part of the charge sheet.

Kiborek, however, denied the charges before Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate Yvonne Khatambi.

Through his lawyer, the accused pleaded with the court to admit him on reasonable bond terms, saying he is a Kenyan and was not a flight risk.

He said he is willing to comply with the orders and court directive and would attend court when required.

“I pray for reasonable bail and bond terms. Accused is a Kenyan and not a flight risk and is willing to comply with court directives,” stated his bond release application.

His father who was in court, said he will ensure his son attends court.

The court heard that the accused is young and is in the process of setting up his life hence a reason enough to warrant his release on bond.

The prosecution did not object his release on bond.

His application was allowed and he was released on a bond of Sh300, 000 with surety of similar amount.

“Accused may be released on a bond Sh300, 000 with surety of similar amount with an alternative cash bail of Sh300, 000,” ruled the court.

Kiborek was arrested in Mogotio on December 23 and was booked at Bondeni Police Station where he was held as police officers conducted investigations.

Yesterday, journalists had rough time as the suspect was being escorted to the cells within the court premises. Friends and relatives ganged up against journalist as they shielded their the suspect.

Police officers also had rough time controlling the crowd and securing the suspect.
