Man pleads guilty to raping girl aged 11

A man who admitted raping an 11-year-old girl will remain in custody until next month as his bond is determined.

Francis Kariuki is accused of defiling two children aged 11 and 12 on November 5 at Mutukanio in Njoro, Nakuru County.

He appeared earlier before Principal Magistrate Joe Omido and pleaded guilty to defiling the 11-year-old. He denied raping the one aged 12.

The children are said to have met Kariuk, who is known to them, at the nearby forest where they went to fetch firewood.

The accused threatened to kill the girls if they did not undress.

He is said to have defiled the 11-year-old twice.

The children later fled the forest and reported the incident.

One woman took them to the police station and later to Mau Narok health centre.

The accused was apprehended and taken to the police station by the public.

Medical reports confirmed the girls were raped.

The accused denied alternative charges and he was denied bail.

The case will be mentioned on January 17.
