Porn star Stormy Daniels ordered to pay Donald Trump's £234,000 legal fees

Porn star Stormy Daniels has been ordered to pay Donald Trump £234,000 to reimburse the President for legal fees he accrued in her failed defamation lawsuit.

Earlier today, U.S. District Judge James Otero hit the adult actress with the bill which includes £800 in sanctions over her attempt to “chill” the President’s “free speech rights”.

“The court’s order, along with the court’s prior order dismissing Stormy Daniels’ defamation case against the President, together constitute a total victory for the President, and a total defeat for Stormy Daniels in this case,” Trump’s attorney Charles Harder said after the hearing in California.

He added the bill Daniels was ordered to pay amounts to 75 per cent of Trump’s legal fees in the case.

Harder said the sanctions were for the pron star having filed a “meritless” defamation action against Trump, which related to a tweet the president wrote.

In it, he all but called the actress a liar for having claimed she was menaced by a man seeking to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual tryst she had with him in 2006.

Harder had asked Judge Otero earlier this month for almost £640,000 in attorneys’ fees and penalties in the case.

The lawyer had billed Trump £649 per hour to represent Trump in the case.

After the ruling, Daniels’s lawyer Michael Avenatti said: “Harder and Trump deserve each other because they are both dishonest.

“They received less than one half what they asked for because the request was gross and excessive.

“Stormy will never have to pay a dime because they owe her over $1 million in attorney’s fees and costs from the main NDA case, especially in light of Cohen’s guilty plea to a felony.”
