In-laws frustrate man’s bid to bury wife in Kakamega

A man seeking orders to bury his wife has suffered a setback after his ‘in-laws’ denounced him on grounds that he had not paid dowry.

In response to a petition filed in court, Susan Tamasia, Benedictor Mwita and James Ochwani swore that Evans Ajega Amadala was not married to their late sister, Jane Robi, under any civil or customary law, and therefore had no right to seek to bury her.

Robi, a former police officer attached to the Kakamega Directorate of Criminal Investigations, died in June.

Kakamega Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Muraguri ordered the parties to resolve the matter through mediation and to present the progress of the petition on November 19.
