Fuel levy a slap in the face of poor Kenyans amid State largesse

The increase by 16 per cent of the price of fuel is not the most devastating economic news Kenyans have had to adjust to in the recent past.

Though it is the largest single fuel price increase for many years (the courts suspended it on Thursday), the truth is that in the last decade, prices of fuel and basic commodities have been going up in an intensely distressing manner whilst incomes have largely stagnated.
