Police are pursuing former Limuru Member of Parliament George Nyanja after he allegedly fired shots in the air to stop Nairobi County officers from demolishing his Karen house.

Sources indicate that City bulldozers arrived in Karen on Wednesday afternoon, weaving through the high-end neighbourhood after which they descended on Mr Nyanja’s premises.

When the former legislator arrived at the scene, an argument ensued between him and the squad executing the demolition exercise. Nyanja is said to have fired shots in the air forcing the city workers to scamper for their safety.

This however did not stop the continuation of the exercise as the house was later brought down. Nairobi County Government has been conducting demolition exercises, targeting houses built on riparian lands, waterways and road reserves.
