A teenager alleged to have defiled six nursery school girls could be mentally handicapped, the court was told.

In a mental assessment report tabled in court, Kakamega Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Muraguri was told that the 15-year-old suspect is not fit to take plea.

Mr Muraguri issued summons to the head-teacher of Mukhonje Special School where the suspect said to be a student.

“I have perused the mental assessment report from Kakamega County General Referral Hospital, which states that the suspect could be mentally handicapped. The head-teacher from the school he attends is hereby summoned to appear in court to assist in this case,” said Mr Muraguri.

The minor is faced with six counts of defiling six pupils on July 23 at their Mukhonje village, Lurambi sub-county.

He is said to have waylaid the complainants aged between three and eight on their way from school where he took them to a maize plantation and committed the alleged felony.

The minors who are said to have positively identified the suspect during the 1pm incident reported the matter to their parents leading to the arrests.
