OPINION: Who will win the Epl this season?

We take a closer look at teams that could be crowned champions come May next year.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola is a serial winner. He has won back-to-back titles in both Spain and Germany with Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively. As a team, they were amazing last season winning 32 matches out of 38 and Guardiola will be looking to at least better this record. They have further added to their firepower as they signed Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City. This team will surely challenge for the title this season.

Liverpool

This team arguably made the best signings during the transfer window. They brought in Fabinho from Monaco, Brazilian goalkeeper Allison from AS Roma, Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City and the amazingly talented Naby Keita from RB Liepzig. They were ruthless last season and got to the Champions League final. There efficient front three of Salah, Mane and Firmino is still intact. They are quick, brilliant and have an eye for goal. With the new signings and given no key player departed, the Reds will mount a title challenge.

Chelsea

 They had it all last season but rescued it with a triumph in the FA. They have brought in a new manager to try to revive the team. Maurizio Sarri is manager known for his quick, high tempo incisive passing football style. He has brought in midfield maestro Jorginho from Napoli to foster his “Sarriball revolution,” Kepa Arrizabalaga to replace Thibaut Courtois, world cup finalist Kovacic from Real Madrid on a season long loan to replace awful Tiemoue Bakayoko and Rob Green as a back-up goalkeeper. Their title challenge however heavily lies in the hands of Ngolo Kante and Eden Hazard. This two have been phenomenal since joining Chelsea.   

Manchester United

The Red Devils’ squad depth is immense on paper and last season’s performance was below par. A couple of players have on few occasions not turned up when called upon. They have however signed Brazilian midfielder Fred, Lee Grant and Diogo Dalot to further add to their rich squad. They finished second last season, 19 points adrift of their “noisy neighbors” Man City and are expected to challenge for the title again this season.

London rivals Arsenal and Totten ham are not serious contenders and should fight for a Champions League spot this season. The title race is for the “big boys.”
