A major bridge linking Marodo village to a primary school has been swept away by flash floods, forcing scores of pupils to miss classes.

Residents and senior education officials yesterday said the children cannot cross the river that is infested by crocodiles.

Taveta Sub-county Director of Education Abdulatif Hassan confirmed that at least 56 pupils from Lotima Primary School were not attending classes.

“The destruction has exposed residents to danger of being attacked by the crocodiles," he said.

This comes as flash floods from Mount Kilimanjaro region continued to disrupt learning in several schools in the county.
