Once again, Jacques Tuyisenge was the saviour as he came off the bench to score the match winner as Gor Mahia beat Wazito 1-0 in yesterday’s Kenyan Premier League match at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

The Rwandese striker’s 75th minute header from Samuel Onyango’s free-kick saw Gor reduce gap against Mathare United to one point (23), but with two games in hand.

This was Tuyisenge’s second vital goal in less than four days after scoring a penalty in last Sunday’s first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup play-offs against SuperSport United of South Africa.

Both teams started the match cautiously but it is Gor who threatened first in the seventh minute when Samuel Onyango beat his marker on the right, but shot directly at Wazito goalkeeper Phillip Odhiambo.

Meddie Kagere could have put the champions ahead after 15 minutes, but his attempt was cleared to safety.

Moments later, Kagere’s feeble header was easily gathered by Odhiambo before his two efforts in quick succession missed the target by inches.

Gor’s best chance of the game came just before halftime but the keeper made a fingertip save to push Kagere’s shot wide

Good defending from Wazito denied K’Ogalo two scoring opportunities in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Tuyisenge broke the deadlock when he headed a Cersidy Lumumba free-kick.
