Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua has criticised a proposal to form a political party for the Luhya community.

Ms Mutua said the proposal by Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula to merge the two parties and form a 'Luhya party' was tribal.

“We are trying to get out of tribal parties. If anyone is planning to come up with one, we shall oppose it,” said Mutua.

She said the Opposition was still strong despite a thawing of relations between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
