Bad day for Sanchez as he gets parking ticket - before driving off with it on windscreen

It’s fair to say that things haven't gone swimmingly for Alexis Sanchez since joining Manchester United.

The Chilean has failed to hit the heights of his Arsenal peak since moving to Old Trafford and there are reports that he has struggled to settle into the squad.

But there was a further blow for Sanchez earlier this week - as Manchester's traffic wardens slapped a parking ticket on his flashy Range Rover.

Sanchez enjoyed dinner at the plush Cibo Restaurant in Wilmslow with girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez on Friday, only to return to his car to find that he had parked it illegally.

The 29-year-old had left his vehicle on double yellow lines.

But it did not seem to bother him too much, he even stopped for a few selfies.

The he hopped straight back into his car and drove off with the ticket still stuck to his windscreen.

The fine is likely to be the standard 'Level Two' parking fee of £70 - which can be reduced to £35 if he pays up within two weeks of receiving the ticket.

It's doubtful that sum will trouble the £400,000-a-week striker too much though.

Meanwhile, reports that Sanchez eats alone at United's training ground are because he is putting extra effort in on the training ground.

Sanchez has struggled since trading places with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January, scoring just once in 10 appearances.

He was dropped for United's recent 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton.

Reports followed that Sanchez cuts an unhappy and isolated figure at United's training ground and tends to eat his lunch alone in the canteen.

However, an explanation for Sanchez's lonely eating habits has now come to light - and it's one United fans are sure to love.

A source close to the club told the Daily Star Sunday: "There is an explanation for Sanchez eating alone at Carrington.

"He regularly does an extra 30 minutes working on free-kicks and shooting after the main session has finished up.

"By the time he has showered and changed, the majority of his team-mates have finished eating and gone."

Sanchez himself recently confessed that his start to life at United has been disappointing.

"Seeing as I demand a lot of myself, I expected something better," declared the former Arsenal attacker.

"After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly. I even hesitated to come here to Sweden, with the national team.

"I had asked permission to miss these games and stay in England, but then I thought better and spoke with Claudio [Bravo] and told him that we should all be united."

Sanchez played all 90 minutes for Chile on Saturday as the winger attempted to put his recent woes behind him.

The United star had a hand in both goals as the South American side edged past Sweden 2-1.
