Legislators now want National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairman Johnston Kavuludi to resign over the problems facing the police service.

The MPs cited the recent pay cut by NPSC as one of the reasons why Mr Kavuludi should quit. The calls were made as the MPs discussed a proposal by Mandera East MP Omar Mohamed Maalim, who wants police salaries increased and officers given decent housing.

National Assembly Leader of Minority John Mbadi said poor pay and deplorable working conditions were hurting staff morale.

“I don’t know whether Kavuludi is giving the people value for money. If he has reached his limit, he should exit and allow another Kenyan to serve,” said Mr Mbadi.
