Manchester United could reportedly make a swoop on Chelsea for the second successive summer, this time for Marcos Alonso.

According to reports in Spain, Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho is keen on the left full-back and wants his paymasters to stump up £70million for the former Bolton man.

Alonso joined Chelsea from Fiorentina two years ago and has become one of their most influential players,

And that has alerted Mourinho who wants to sign the 27-year-old as part of his summer revolution.

The Portuguese raided his former club last summer for Nemanja Matic and the signing of the Serbian has proved a masterstroke. The Serbian has provided cover for the Manchester United backline, giving positive performances and winning the praises of the Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.

Beside this, Chelsea has in the past sold one of their best players at the time in Juan Mata to Manchester United. This could perhaps imply that the Stamford Bridge side may not hold so firmly to their record-breaking defender.

Marcos Alonso signed for Blues in the last summer from Seria A side Fiorentina. The Spaniard has so far gone on a streak of scoring the highest number of goals scored by a defender this season (7) and 13 since last summer.

Getting Alonso from Chelsea will definitely take a lot of effort but in football, there is no word ‘never.’
