Women League: Thika Queens seeking double over Spedag

Thika Queens will be keen to beat Spedag when the two sides meet in a Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League at Thika Sub-County Stadium Thika.

This is an exciting tie considering the calibre of players on show for both sides.

Spedag, full of players who feature in the senior national team - Harambee Starlets, have had a disappointing season and they will be seeking to redeem their reputation of finishing in a respectable position by the end of the season while Thika, who have won the national title twice will be out to prove a point.

The Thika-based side has not lost a match this season and as it stands, they have qualified to the national play-offs where they will be defending the title against Zone B winner that will be determined this weekend.

The champions are seeking to dictate the pace against Spedag for the second consecutive season although when these sides meet it is always unpredictable.

Queens are at the top of the table and will be guided by Harambee Starlets striker Mercy Achieng' who has had a great season - scoring in every match.

Lucy Mukhwana is another striker expected to shine following her outstanding performance in the match against Soccer Sisters last weekend where she scored a brace.

On the other hand, Spedag will be led by Harambee Starlets captain and fullback Wendy Achieng. Although they started the season on a bad footing, Achieng has been instrumental for the club not only providing assists, but also scoring.

Forward Esse Akida who has had a dismissal season compared to last season is also expected to show what she is made of in this fixture. [Rebecca Jebet]
