Nakuru RFC are determined to win the Christie Rugby Sevens championships to enhance their chances of winning the national title for the second time since 2015.

Buoyed by reaching the finals of the Driftwood and Prinsloo Sevens, Nakuru RFC deputy coach Jotham Owili said nothing is impossible in winning the title.

“The points difference at the top in the tournament is small and any of the teams can can win the title by winning the last two legs of the series. However, we are starting by winning the Christie Sevens and improve our points’ aggregate ahead of Dala Sevens,” Owili told The Standard Sports.

In the Christie Sevens fixtures released by Kenya Rugby Union on Monday evening, Nakuru RFC are in Pool B alongside Sepetuka finalists Resolution Impala Saracens, University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine, Resolution Kisii RFC.  The matches will be played at the  Rugby Football Union of East African Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday.

In the race for the overall title, Homeboyz, Kabras Sugar, Impala, Menengai Oilers, Nakuru RFC, and Kenya Commercial Bank are headed for cut-throat competition in the remaining two legs of the series.

Sepetuka champions Kabras Sugar, the top seeds, are in Pool A with  Harlequins, Strathmore Leos, and Mombasa RFC.

Impala are in Pool B alongside Top Fry Nakuru, Mean Machine, and Resolution Kisii.

Pool C has Homeboyz, Western, Mwamba, and Nondies while Pool D has Menengai, KCB, Blak Blad, and Daystar University. [Ben Ahenda]
