Fifa has banned Equatorial Guinea from the 2019 Women's World Cup after they picked ten ineligible Brazilians.

Equatorial Guinea were expelled from the competition after they used forged documents to field a host of ineligible players.

The African giants were also fined £78,000 for the stunt.

Fifa had earlier on banned the African nation from the 2020 Olympic qualifying program, in a decision related to a Brazil-born player.

Further investigation from the governing body of world football found ten more ineligible players from the South American nation had been fielded.

A statement from FIFA read: "The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the Equatorial Guinea Football Association with expulsion from the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019".

It added there would be "a fine of CHF 100,000 for fielding ineligible players during the preliminary competition of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016."

The ban was in relation to "the use of forged and falsified documents by two of its players".

The tournament will take place in France, between June 7 and July 7, 2019.

England are well on their way to the competition as they sit top of their qualifying group with one win from their only game - beating Russia 6-0 in the opener.
