Kenya’s Under 20 women’s national team will play counterparts Ghana in their second round of the Fifa U-20 Women World Cup qualifier.
Kenya eliminated Ethiopia on a 4-3 aggregate following a 2-1 win in the second leg and a 2-2 draw in the first leg. Ghana tossed Algeria with a 10-0 aggregate following a 5-0 win at home and the same results in the return match.
Speaking after the match at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, Kenya’s coach Caroline Ajowi was convinced that good preparations will be key ahead of the second round fixture.
However, Ajowi admitted the dominance of Ghana, which went to the 2016 World Cup edition that was held in Jordan.
“Ghana is a good side but we need to work on a few mistakes especially in striking to make sure we convert our chances. We’ve had good preparations since we started the journey and I hope if we continue with the preparations, we will register good results,” said Ajowi.
Kenya eliminated Botswana 7-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round away in the first leg with the latter pulling out of the qualifiers in the second leg citing financial problems.
The Super Falconets of Nigeria routed Tanzania 6-0 in the second leg played at Azam Stadium.
