A fire razed five classrooms in Tenwek High School on Saturday 23.

Books and desks for 160 students were destroyed in the 1am fire. No casualty was reported as students were in their dormitories when the fire broke out.

Bomet County Director of Education Beatrice Asyago said arrangements were being made to have the students resume studies.

Ms Asyago said the County Government, school Board of Management and her office were making arrangements to buy new books and desks for the affected students to allow them to continue learning.

She said the school had identified space where the students will study as the burnt classrooms are repaired.

“We are already putting our heads to ensure normalcy returns to the school and students can get down to normal business of learning,” she said.

School Principal Mutali Chesebe thanked the local community for responding to their distress calls and helping to put out the fire.
